Network Upgrades

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted, figured I’d update on my latest upgrades.
Replace my Ubiquiti 3 Port EdgeRouter Lite with a Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE. I am VERY pleased with the upgrade.

Replaced my aging Raspberry Pi 4b, running PiHole with a brand new Raspberry Pi 5. I added the WaveShare POE Hat and put the whole arrangement in the 52Pi Aluminium Case. If you’re planning on expanding your network with some Raspberry Pi 5s, do some research for buying parts. I snagged an NVME base, but the POE will not power the SSD.

I think it’s time…

So, finally getting around to putting together a build for a new HTPC for my TV. I’d say now that the CPU that is currently 12-14 years old, it’s time for an upgrade.

I’m pretty surprised my current build has lasted as long as it has. I’ve cycled out PSUs twice, HDDs/SSDs three times and GPUs once. It is still running on the original CPU, Motherboard and RAM.

Here’s what I’ve been looking at. All current prices at my local MicroCenter. Sub $700 for a new custom build or $575 for an Intel NUC.

Possible build options.
